Here are a few fun holiday events we’re most excited about:

  1. ZooLights, Nov. 22-Jan. 4

Experience Zoo New England’s ZooLights event for a fantastic show of holiday lights and animals from all over the world. The zoo will be covered with thousands of lights for a nature experience unlike anything you’ve seen before. This year, there will be over 40 life-size LEGO animal statues the kids will love.

ZooLights lasts from 5-9 p.m. every day except Christmas Day. Admission is $14.95 for adults at the gate and $12.95 for kids 2-12. If you buy online, you can discount rates for every day but Friday and Saturday.

  1. The Nutcracker Ballet, Nov. 29-Dec. 29

Watching the Nutcracker Ballet has been a holiday tradition for over 100 years, and the Boston Ballet is one of the best productions you’ll find in the country. If you’ve never been to a production of this time-honored ballet, make sure you get your tickets this year.

Tickets to the ballet vary depending on the day and section you book, but they start at $37. Youth 22 and under are eligible for a 50% discount on their tickets on select days and sections.

  1. Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity, Dec. 6-22

For the 49th year, the Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity will grace the stage at the Theatres of Emerson College. Live through the story of the reason for the Christmas season with this joyous gospel performance. The National Center of Afro-American Artists put on the show every year, and it’s a must-see for many local Bostonians and travelers.

Tickets vary on day and section, but they start at $35 per person.

  1. SoWa Winter Festival, Dec. 6-8

If you’re looking for an event that has it all, head to the SoWa Winter Festival. You’ll find plenty of gift shopping opportunities, food vendors, seasonal brews and wines, and more here. If you’re into the arts, you’ll love the live ice sculpting, features artists, galleries, and more that SoWa is home to. This event is a great way to get in the holiday spirits for families, friends, and solo explorers alike.

The festival will be held at the SoWa Art + Design District from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 6, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 7, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 8.

  1. A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage, Dec. 7

If you have young kids you’re trying to get into the holiday spirit, take them to see A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage. Give them a chance to experience this beloved story and meet some of their favorite characters.

Tickets start at $29 per person, and the show lasts from 7-9 p.m. at the Lowell Auditorium.
