When summer starts winding down and the kids go back to school, you know fall is right around the corner. With brightly-colored leaves practically everywhere you look, a crisp feeling in the air, and pumpkin spice scents filling each coffee shop you can find, there’s something about the season of autumn worth celebrating. If you’re looking to embrace everything Mother Nature has to offer after summer ends, there are lots of places you should consider checking out in Boston. Here are some of our favorites.
-
Boston Public Garden
At the Boston Public Garden, you’ll find expansive fields and numbers of trees in its surrounding areas which all depict the picture of fall exquisitely. During October and November, you’ll notice all the trees turn a bright orange and dark, amber tones that make for a very pleasing Instagram shot. Be sure to walk across the bridge found above the lagoon to get an even better look at what fall is like in the heart of Boston. Throughout the entire city, you likely won’t find a better spot than this.
-
Rose Kennedy Greenway
Another place to enjoy the fall is Rose Kennedy Greenway, which displays autumn’s foliage with elegance and grace. Measuring a mile and a half in length, you can essentially take a tour through fall as you check out the changing colors of the leaves and feel the crisp air as you pass by many different attractions, art exhibits, and more. It’s one of the more unique locations on our list and is a great place to enjoy the autumn weather.
-
Arnold Arboretum
Located in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, the Arnold Arboretum spot is home to nearly 5,000 different species. The best time to visit would be in mid-October when most if not all species have had time to change to their fall and winter colors. You can even take a guided tour of the Arboretum’s many gardens and discover everything there is to see. In the autumn, make sure to check out their collection of maple trees, which turn brilliant yellow, orange, and red when the seasons change. It’s the perfect place to bring the family to on a cool fall day.
-
The Esplanade
The Boston Esplanade is a beautiful park on the Charles River. In the fall, you’ll find nothing short of gold and bright red finishes stretching across the entire area, showing off autumn’s foliage to the fullest. It’s the perfect place to take a walk, jog for a bit, or even go on a bike ride with friends as you admire the magnificence nature has on display.
With so many great spots to enjoy the entire autumn season, you’ll find no shortage of great places to visit during fall in Boston. Of course, that goes without saying there are lots of other locations to enjoy the fall season. We hope you have an amazing time sipping pumpkin spice lattes and watching the leaves fall!
