What’s New for 2026: The All-Electric 2026 Jeep® Recon Arrives

2026 Jeep Recon parked mountain side.

The 2026 Jeep® Recon isn’t a refresh — it’s basically a brand-new vehicle. Jeep traded the Wrangler-based gas powertrain for dual electric motors, 650 horsepower, and Trail Rated® engineering built from the ground up. 495 Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Lowell, MA breaks down every major change before it arrives.

A Different Kind of Power

The previous gas-powered Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon trim topped out at 270 horsepower. This new Jeep model answers with dual electric motors, 650 horsepower, and 620 lb-ft of torque that arrives the instant your foot moves.

Zero to 60 mph takes just 3.6 seconds. A 100.5 kWh battery delivers up to 230 miles of range, and DC Fast Charging pushes it from five percent to 80 percent in about 28 minutes.

A New Platform, More Ways to Feel the Open Air

Traditional Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon models rode on a body-on-frame platform with solid axles. The 2026 Jeep Recon uses the STLA Large platform instead — fully independent suspension and smoother pavement manners without giving anything back on the trail. Removable rear-quarter glass and removable swing-gate glass join the standard removable doors, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof comes standard, and the Moab trim adds wider fender flares with topographic Jeep badges.

Trail Rated® Hardware Gets Smarter

The Trail Rated® badge still means something here. Selec-Terrain® adds a Rock mode exclusive to the Moab trim — tuned for electric motor response and controlled regenerative braking on steep descents. An electronically locking rear differential with a 15:1 final drive ratio keeps traction when one wheel goes airborne. Steel skid plates shield the battery, motors, and critical electronics.

A Much-Needed Cabin Upgrade

The jump from the previous Jeep Recon interior is real. That 12.3-inch Uconnect® 5 screen becomes a 14.5-inch display with navigation standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay®, an 11-speaker Alpine® audio system, and more than 170 standard safety features — including Active Driving Assist, a 360-degree camera, and Blind Spot Monitoring — come with every configuration. Heated power-adjustable front seats with memory and Capri leatherette made from recycled materials add comfort you’ll notice on the first drive back from the trail.
