Burger Challenge | 495 CJDRTwo competitors step into the ring: you versus the food challenge. It’s a heavyweight title fight for the ages. Who will come out on top? If you love to take on food challenges or simply want to say you got to attempt it, these three Boston area food challenges will put your stomach to the test. How many can you complete?

  1. Flann O’Brien’s Guinness Breakfast Challenge

If you’re a big fan of brunch, this might be the food challenge for you. All you need to do is wash down three rashers, four sausages, three eggs, a pancake, white toast and brown bread with butter, a grilled tomato, mushrooms, mixed veggies, six pieces of white and black pudding, Irish baked beans, and a bowl of fruit with a pint of Guinness. Of course, the Guinness is optional, but let’s face it: The odds of finishing the food in an hour are slim, so you might as well enjoy a pint of delicious nitrogenated stout before you slip into a food coma.

Upon completing the challenge, you will receive an array of rewards, some of which will likely go unwanted. First and foremost, you’ll get a free dessert, which is likely just what you were looking for. You’ll also get the meal for free, a t-shirt, an additional $10 gift card, and a spot on their website’s hall of fame.

  1. The Awful Awful Milkshake Challenge

If you fancy yourself a dessert aficionado or simply have a stomach for lots and lots of dessert, head over to Newport Creamery to take their Awful Awful Milkshake Challenge. The rules are simple. All you need to do is finish three 24-ounce milkshakes. There’s no time limit as long as the milkshakes are finished in one sitting. Since completing this challenge is a bit easier, you can expect the rewards to be a little softer, as well. For completing the awful awful milkshake challenge, you get a free fourth milkshake.

  1. Eagle’s Deli Burger Challenge

What started off as a fairly meager challenge has grown into an unbeatable behemoth. Seriously, if you finish this challenge, you’re the best food consumer this side of the Mississippi River. In the early days, this challenge started as a couple of pounds of burger and some fries, but as the challenges were toppled, the stakes got higher.

It grew incrementally from the Reilly (three pounds of burger and two pounds of fries) all the way up to the most recently toppled challenge, the Furious Pete, which includes five pounds of burger, 20 pieces of bacon, 20 pieces of cheese, and five pounds of fries. Yes someone actually finished this in under an hour. Their menu includes all previous iterations of the challenge, so you can try to tackle them yourself.

The new undefeated challenge is the same as the Furious Pete plus two additional cheeseburgers. Of course, if you defeat this $70 food challenge the glory is all yours and you’ll forever be remembered as a Boston legend. You’ll also get the meal for free, a $100 dollar gift card, naming rights to the challenge, a t-shirt, and a photo on the wall of fame.

Feeling hungry? You won’t be after you attempt one of the incredible, delicious Boston food challenges above.
