Brunch meal | 495 Chrysler Jeep Dodge RamWeekends are a time to get out and enjoy life. These are the days when you can shop, spend time with friends, and relax without having to worry about the 9-to-5 grind. For those who live in and around the Boston area or plan to visit, a good brunch is key to making the most out of these days. Here are three Boston restaurants where you must try brunch.

  1. Milkweed

Located in the Mission Hill neighborhood, Milkweed offers yummy and unique brunch options. These include dishes like the Lucky Charms pancakes and shakshuka. The latter is a dish with tomato sauce, feta cheese, sweet cherry peppers, scallions, and two eggs. There are also traditional favorites like vegetarian scrambles, omelets, and French toast. If you’re craving a savory brunch dish, try the salmon cakes with cheesy grits and scrambled eggs or the grilled vegetable gyro filled with seasonal grilled vegetables, scrambled eggs, and Kalamata olives.

In addition to the brunch, Milkweed serves delicious cappuccinos and hot chocolate if you’re in the mood. It is a popular place for brunch, so expect a long wait on the weekends. Milkweed is also open for lunch and dinner.

  1. The Friendly Toast

The Friendly Toast in Back Bay, Massachusetts, is a definite must-go place for brunch. It has a comprehensive menu of brunch favorites, including a list of eggs Benedict variations from the traditional to one with meatloaf, oatmeal toast, and a Sriracha glaze. There’s also the classic chicken and waffles, and ramen noodles for breakfast that has eggs, bacon, and a spicy red curry broth.

You can even have a hash quiche if you so desire, which consists of two hash brown bowls stuffed with eggs, onions, peppers, and bacon. After you’ve finished your meal, take home a loaf of one of the homemade breads. The Friendly Toast does rotate out some menu items like the meatloaf eggs Benedict, which is only available in the winter months. Visitors also recommend getting in line via the NoWait app to shorten your wait time upon arrival. Parking is also a bit tricky, which may mean walking or taking an Uber.

  1. Theo’s Cozy Corner

Theo’s Cozy Corner in the North End is a good find for those in search of a local brunch place. It serves all of the breakfast staples like eggs and toast, omelets, waffles, and chocolate chip pancakes. If you’re in the mood for the lunch side of brunch, Theo’s serves both Italian and Brazilian dishes. These include a fish stew called Muqueca, served with rice, spaghetti and meatballs; chicken Parmesan; and fried pork chops and onions.

Visitors to Theo’s Cozy Corner praise the fast service and friendly staff. It gets quite busy during peak breakfast hours on weekdays and weekends, though. It’s also worth noting that the restaurant only takes cash and parking is hard to come by. So plan accordingly.

Choosing where to have brunch in Boston is a tall order with so many good choices. This list is just a small sampling of them. Whether you want more traditional brunch choices or something unique, each of these restaurants will fuel you for your day in Boston.
