Jericho Mountain 4x4 Trail - New Hampshire
The first Jeep Badge of Honor trail we'd like to tell you about is the nearest one to us here in Massachusetts. That is Jericho Mountain Off-Road Park in Berlin, New Hampshire. The park is known for its extensive trail system that winds through diverse landscapes, including forests and hills. These trails cater to riders of varying skill levels, providing options for both beginners and experienced off-roaders. Visitors to Jericho Mountain Off-Road Park often appreciate not only the thrill of off-roading but also the scenic beauty of the surrounding natural environment. The park's location near Jericho Lake adds to the picturesque setting. The trails found here use a trail rating system, categorizing trails into different levels of difficulty and marking them by distinct color codes. Green trails are considered the easiest, Blue trails present a more challenging terrain, requiring a more heavily modified vehicle, the Black trails are marked as the most difficult, demanding heavily modified vehicles, and finally, the Red trails are classified as Extreme, reserved for custom-built off-road vehicles.
Pennsylvania Jeep Badge of Honor Trails
Pennsylvania is home to numerous Badge of Honor trails. Two are located in the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA). Beginning in AOAA's Western Reserve area is Fern Ridge, Pennsylvania's newest Badge of Honor trail. This challenging trail is known for its tree stumps, rocky passes, and ledges, demanding meticulous navigation through narrow tree openings. As you progress through Fern Ridge, the difficulty level escalates from Moderate (Blue) to Extreme (Red). Next in the AOAA is Barney Rubble, located in the park's Western Reserve section. Barney Rubble offers varying entry points that can transform it from a moderately manageable route to a highly challenging Extreme adventure. As the name implies, the trail is mostly a rock garden featuring obstacles of different sizes. Navigating this trail involves precise decision-making, especially when dealing with mud and water challenges. The difficulty level ranges from moderate to demanding. Two other Badge of Honor trails in Pennsylvania can be found in the Rausch Creek Off-Road Park. First is Crawl Daddy, situated on the park's eastern side. It features challenging terrain that winds through trees and over logs, rocks, and other trail obstacles. Meanwhile, Trail #11 is in the park's western section. Marked as a Green trail, this one offers uneven terrain to challenge newer off-roaders while still providing entertainment for those with more experience. Finally, Crawler Ridge is a Blue trail, taking off-roaders through mud pits, dense trees, and steep, rocky inclines.
Badge of Honor Trails in the Carolinas
The Dickey Bell Trail #91 is found in North Carolina's Uwharrie National Forest. Just over two miles long, Dickey Bell has a Black trail rating, meaning it is most challenging, requiring a heavily modified vehicle and experienced off-roading skills. Drivers navigate through the woods and over a rocky trail surface. The trail takes drivers through a steep rock garden that is said to remind drivers of other Badge of Honor trails in Colorado and Utah. The Uwharrie National Forest is home to many other off-roading trails, and thus offers camping opportunities for those looking to extend their off-road adventure. There are established campgrounds, and dispersed camping is allowed in some areas. Meanwhile, South Carolina's Gulches Off-Road Vehicle Park is the latest name on Jeep's Badge of Honor trail list. Gulches is an off-roading area loved by off-roaders who like to get down and dirty, as it has many areas of slick mud. However, there are many trails within the park, giving drivers of all skill levels access to other terrains like wooded areas, rock gardens, steep hills, and wooded areas.
