How is the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Powered?

Before diving into the Charger Daytona's drive modes, it's important to have an understanding of the vehicle's powertrain. The Charger Daytona lineup comes in two trim levels, R/T and Scat Pack, both offering different power output levels. Both models, however, use the same powertrain. This powertrain includes a 100.5-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack that powers an electric drive module (EDM) on both the front and rear axles. The Charger Daytona's battery pack is performance-focused, featuring more power per gram than other EV batteries at 550-kW. The EDMs combine for an impressive 335 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. In 2024, however, the introductory Charger Daytona R/T model features a Dodge Direct Connection Stage 1 kit, boasting 496 horsepower. Meanwhile, the 2024 Charger Daytona Scat Pack rips out an impressive 670 horsepower with a Stage 2 performance kit. By using electric power instead of gas, Charger Daytona models achieve instantaneous torque delivery for more impressive launch times. The Scat Pack trim level can reach 60 MPH from a dead stop in just 3.3 seconds and complete a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds.

What Drive Modes Come Standard With the 2024 Charger Daytona?

Both 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona trim levels feature a set of drive modes designed for drivers to customize their driving experience. The first and default mode is Auto. When Auto mode is selected, the EV system will automatically adjust the vehicle's torque split, power output, transmission shift points, and traction control to maximize performance and efficiency on the current road conditions detected by a network of sensors. Meanwhile, Sport mode allows for higher power output and higher transmission shift points to increase driving excitement. Eco mode reduces the vehicle's power output to minimize battery consumption and optimizes the regenerative braking system to reserve battery power. Finally, in Wet/Snow mode, the torque split and power output are adjusted to maximize traction when it becomes limited. These modes give drivers more control over the vehicle, its performance, and its overall efficiency.

High-Performance Drive Modes of the All-New Charger

The Charger Daytona models take the drive modes one step further – well, actually, a few steps further. The first of the Charger Daytona's high-performance drive modes is Track mode. Track mode is designed to maximize vehicle performance on smooth and dry road surfaces, such as a track. Meanwhile, Drag mode is intended for use only on an enclosed drag strip, as it delivers increased straight-line acceleration and enhanced launch times. Two additional modes come exclusively with the Charger Daytona Scat Pack. Donut mode allows you to perform donuts by allowing the rear wheels to rotate around the front wheels without any intervention from the vehicle's traction control system. Additionally, Drift mode is designed to help drivers remain in control while drifting around corners by sending more torque to the rear wheels to help manage the slip angle while softening the front dampers and stiffening the rear dampers to enable an oversteer condition. Finally, Drift mode adjusts the traction control system to allow the wheels to spin at different speeds without triggering a fault code.
